Avocado from seed

Have you ever looked at an avocado seed after you have cut it out of the delicious avocado flesh and thought I wonder if I could grow an avocado tree from this? Well… you can, and it’s easy!

Here is my attempt and it’s still going strong. Will be a few years before I can get any avocados from it but I think the plant looks good anyway and there is something about being able to say “I grew that from an avocado I bought at the store.”

  

I know what your thinking “hey! That’s in soil, I thought you were all about hydroponics”. Well yes you are right I have not done a hydroponic avocado tree. Maybe I should, but I’m not sure about having to look after a small hydro system for the life of an avocado tree.
